Opening the top lid, we find the Mosquito Repellent resting in the box. Underneath the repellent is the mini box containing the repellent tablet/mat and the two original Xiaomi AA batteries. At the bottom, we find the user manual which is also completely in Chinese. though the illustrations on it might allow you to learn how to operate the device, however, it’s not that much effective as writing. So we already have provided our own manual for you on how to operate, change batteries, and repellent tablet/mat.
It is very generous of Mijia, that we have all the necessary things available in the box and there are some extras like the two AA batteries in comparison to the Xiaomi Portable Mosquito Repeller. One thing is sure that you can’t insert your own local mat like in the old portable Mosquito Repeller.
Xiaomi ensures that this Mosquito repellent should be as portable and compact as possible. That is why it only occupies a space of 11.00 x 11.00 x 6.00 cm which is the same as a mini Bluetooth speaker. This makes it practically conceivable to use it anywhere you want, at home, in your car, and even carrying it in your bag.
The Xiaomi Mijia Mosquito Repellent is highly eco-friendly because of the materials which mold it. These materials are High-grade ABS and PP. At the bottom, we have organic silica gel applied to the mats to make it anti-skid on slippery surfaces. Honestly, we never expected that the plastic quality would have a great feeling and finishing to it under $15, but it totally surprised us in the first impression. Thanks to these materials, Xiaomi Mijia Mosquito Repellent weighs only 150 grams which are slightly lighter than a standard 5.5 -inch smartphone. For a product of that size, the weight is high but that’s all quality added to it.
The appearance had a more striking effect rather than the design. Xiaomi keeps the white chassis of the repellent with minimal and plain appearance. It’s simply neat with no logo on the visible part of the mosquito repellent. The only writing and logo we find are at the bottom.
At the front, we find the power button to turn it on/off along with the LED light which turns green when the Xiaomi Mijia Mosquito Repellent is on. There are the openings on the top and bottom to effectively repel mosquitoes and other bugs as well as to clean the device easily.
The most convenient feature of the Mijia Mosquito Repellent is how easily we can use it. The top lid opens effortless just by pressing the top and rotating it anti-clockwise. There you can find the place for the tablet to rest. You can simply replace it like a tray without further opening anything. Replaced the tablet, then just attach the top lid again.
The average life of a single tablet is around 72 – 90 days (maximum) only if the 10 hours timing mode is on. Same is the case with the battery life which can easily last up to 30 to 45 days depending on how frequent the user uses it. The only thing we didn’t like is buying a new tablet can be a lot of pain since it’s rarely available from the global stores and takes time to deliver.
