Design & Build
You would be pleasantly surprised by the BLUBOO D1’s design and build quality from a device in this price range. Coming with metal unibody made of aircraft grade aluminum alloy, the D1 definitely looks and feels like a premium device, not like a cheap one at all. The curves on the front and the back make it much easier to hold as well. On the front we find the selfie softlight, breathing light and capacitive buttons that do not light up below the screen. On the back we find the dual cameras, dual LED flash and a fingerprint scanner which is quite easy to reach.

Display
The 5.0-inch HD Sharp display on the BLUBOO D1 is pretty amazing, it presents rather saturated colors and crisp text and pictures, making it a pleasure to look at. And view angles are great and the touch screen panel is responsive and accurate, fully meeting the needs of daily usage.

Hardware & Performance
The BLUBOO D1 is powered by a MediaTek MTK6580A CPU paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, as any smartphone in that price-range should. Overall the user experience is smooth and fluent, apps open without any shutters and multitasking is also not a problem, you can leave apps open in the background and find them in the right place after a while. If you care about the benchmarks, the phone scored 24,254 on AnTuTu.

256GB Expandable Storage
The BLUBOO D1 can accommodate two Micro SIM cards and a microSD card with 256GB expandable storage support, allowing users to have plenty of space to store photos, movies, music and apps. In the video, we inserted a 128GB TF card, which turned out to work well.12

Fingerprint Scanner Usage
The fingerprint sensor on the back is quite fast, it can unlock the phone with ease in less than 0.1 second. The speed is more than good enough for daily use. Meanwhile, the fingerprint scanner can store up to 5 different fingerprints and is capable of 360° fingerprint recognition. And the sensor’s accuracy is pretty decent as well.

Dual Rear Camera
On the rear, the BLUBOO D1 sports a 8.0MP main camera along with a 2.0MP camera. In “normal” camera mode, the camera takes higher-quality pictures compare to other phones in this price range. The photos excels in good clarity, rich colors and high brightness. In “DSLR” camera mode, the main camera captures still images while the subsidiary camera captures bokeh information, allowing you to get refined photos with sharp foreground and blurry background. In addition, the rear dual LED flash lights help illumine your images in low-light conditions or at night, creating clear, bright photos for you.

Front Camera with Selfie Softlight
The BLUBOO D1 makes it possible for you to take bokeh-effect selfies, a 5.0MP camera plus a secondary camera for creating depth-of-field effects. Another pretty significant upside is the selfie softlight which casts a soft even light across the whole image, gives you bright and glossy complexion. The selfie experience is quite

Breathing Light
There is a breathing light on the front, which glows from dark to light in different colors for different types of messages to ensure that you’ll never miss that next important message. With a glance instead of waking up the screen, you will find out whether there are missed messages or not. Very considerate and convenient.

Conclusion
Judging a smartphone for its price and functions as a whole, and the BLUBOO D1 is definitely one of the most decent, budget Android smartphones around. It surely deserves your attention if you are searching for an affordable dual camera phone with some decent specifications.

Currently the D1 model is still available in presale offers for merely $69.99. There’s also a giveaway event where some free samples are available. The presale will end on May 7th and then the price will go back up to the retail level. You could find more details about the phone in here or presale in here.

So luckily some of the manufacturers are not afraid to perform a full teardown to the last models so the users can see all the details. Taken BLUBOO, a Chinese phone maker as example, last week , BLUBOO made a teardown video of their dual camera phone, BLUBOO Dual. And today we have for you another BLUBOO disassembly video showing the insides of the BLUBOO Edge model.

To remind you of the Edge’s specs, it comes with dual curvy design, shiny back cover with lumia effect, a 5.5inch OGS display with HD resolution, a quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz, a front fingerprint sensor,a heart rate monitor, 256GB expandable storage, 13 mega-pixel rear SONY camera, 8 mega-pixel front camera, a 2600mAh battery and Android 6.0 Marshmallow as the OS.

In the video we can see that it’s actually pretty easy to open the Edge armed with small tools like screwdriver, tweezer, etc, and heap of patience. Also it’s worth noting that the main board and the rest of the components looks pretty solid and the tear-down needs some skill, so careful performing such feats at home.

Chinese maker BLUBOO has launched their first dual camera model, BLUBOO Dual which does make a stir. Today we have for you a comparison between BLUBOO Dual and newly released Doogee Shoot 1. Dual camera phones are going to be all over the place in 2017. Since the release of iPhone 7 Plus, increasing number of Chinese phone makers are working on devices with dual rear sensors, for instance, Huawei, Xiaomi, Vivo, Gionee, etc,  and of course, some smaller manufacturers are included, for instance, BLUBOO, Elephone, etc. So now comes the question, if you have to choose among iPhone 7 Plus, Huawei 9 and BLUBOO Dual, which one do you prefer?

Aviation aluminum alloy
3000mAh battery
Android 6.0 Marshmallow
Gyroscope, 256GB TF Extend, dual-layer TP, Multi-touch support, dual rear flash

According to the main specs, it’s fairly obvious that iPhone 7 Plus and Huawei P9 are much superior to the BLUBOO Dual model. Even though the Dual is less stellar with hardware on the whole, it still features some decent specs, including gyroscope, more sensitive and accurate touch panel thanks to dual-layer construction, 256GB microSD expansion support, screen with multi-touch and wet, or gloved controls support, etc. Beside, the Dual is capable of excellent camera performance. To prove that, we have for you a video comparing the camera performance of  BLUBOO Dual respectively with iPhone 7 Plus and Huawei P9.

The Maya Max has a 6.0-inch JDI display with HD resolution, coupling with OGS technology, which brings sharper, richer visual experience with higher sensitivity and higher transparency. And apart from multi-touch support, the screen could even handle wet and gloved touch controls. As for touch panel, BLUBOO adopts a dual-layer one, bringing more accurate, sensitive touch experience. Large display pairs with large battery. The Maya Max contains a 4200mAh battery with quick-charge support to offer long-lasting service time and shorter recharge time.

The camera specs are average at best, 13 Mpix main camera with Sony 214 sensor and 8 Mpix front camera. And for the selfie lovers the BLUBOO Beautysnap app will be just pure bliss with variety of effects and functions like the classic “beautification”, “age and sex recognition” or the “enhance mode” available. With smart self-timer mode, you even don’t need to press the shutter when shooting.

What’s more, BLUBOO Maya Max has some distinctive features which distinguish from common budget-friendly smartphones, for instance, VoLTE technology for high quality video&voice calls via 4G network, NXP speaker for better sound quality, rear fingerprint reader being capable of unlocking phone in less than 0.1 second, sided mute button, USB Type-C port, off-screen gesture and Android 6.0 Marshmallow as the OS. Compare to other competitors under the hood of MediaTek , the Maya Max is definitely the most fully-featured one.

Last but not least, the BLUBOO Maya Max made of 6000 series aluminum alloy looks more appealing than devices using cheaper alloys. Through CNC machining the back cover is brushed and also has an overall curvy design, giving a better feeling in hands as well as a premium outside.
