First you have to download the Sumvision Cyclone Voyager 7' 4.2.2 firmware from here or from here. Next download the Rockchip Batch Tool v1.7 from here.
Now put the Pipo S1 tablet into 'firmware update mode', run the Rockchip Batch Tool v1.7, select the update-733-2013-7-10-ËóŢ˙--źŢ--4.2.img file and press 'Restore' button. Wait for 4-5 minutes and that's it. First boot takes longer, about 5 minutes, so please be patient.

1. Install the driver for the tablet. In my case, I have Windows 8 x64 bit, I had to follow this video tutorial. Better download Rockusb drivers v.3.5 from this post.
2. From settings enable USB Debuggibg on your Pipo S1 tablet. Download and install Moborobo or PdaNet from here. Run one of these apps to make sure that your tablet diver is correctly installed.
3. Run UnlockRoot Pro v.3.36 and press 'Root' button. It will ask to root it againg and choose 'yes' option. Finally the tablet will reboot and you're done. Now you have root acces. Or simply root using this video tutorial.
4. To install the CWM 6.0.2.7 please follow the update steps from this post. Then download CWM 6.0.3.1 from here or from here and copy it as it is on a micro SD card, install Quick Boot free from Play store, reboot into recovery, then choose 'install zip from sd card' and apply the new CWM zip file from your card. @ZenithPaul
It's very ok the way you rooted, there is no problem with that. This method has also the same result, of course http://touchscreen-apps.blogspot.ro/2013/03/the-easiest-way-to-root-pipo-smart-s1.html
I'll be gone away for some days, so I can't do anything about that... ;)

@Julien Stafie
Pipo S1 model hasn't a back camera....
Is everyone's home screen locked into landscape...mine won't auto rotate. Works fine in other apps....just not the home screen!
Thanks for this, sound didn't work right away and neither did video playback, but was fine after reboot.All seems to be working well, screen rotation, camera sound etc and very stable, and noticed a couple of new features.
Only thing that isn't working is the HDMI out, which is a real shame as I use that a lot, can anyone fix this? Also does anyone know how to change the initial 'Sumvision' boot screen? I'm sure I could if I knew how to open the firmware .IMG file prior to installing.
Hello;
i intall this frimware in my pipo s1 every thing is work fine but g sensor is not working plz help what i do ?
My home screen and app screen are locked in landscape mode. All other apps can rotate screen. Is this a "feature by design" or a fault?
