Due to the fact that metal blocks the signal transmission and causes short circuit in the mobile communication, there are many unknown risks when using this material in a smartphone. Besides the signal, metal also determines the exterior appearance. That’s why many nowadays metal smartphones look similar. Apple has been leading the whole industry because they can always address the signal issue while keeping their devices unique and beautiful.
For example, iPhone 5 adopted a bolder design than the iPhone 4. The whole body of iPhone 5 is processed from a piece of metal (aluminum alloy). This, however, raises the difficulty of dealing with the signal issue. When the antenna is wrapped in the closed metal, it becomes difficult to cover all the signal frequencies. That’s why in the end iPhone 5 has two antennas that aren’t connected, located separately on the top and bottom of the device to allow WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth, and other signals to “peek” through.
Many smartphone industry insiders think iPhone 5 is of great design in terms of build and material. And many other smartphone makers copy the design after that. For the iPhone 6, Apple designers adopted plastic injection molding process instead to decrease the area of antenna. The whole body thus features better integrity. However, because the number of supported network frequencies increases a lot, iPhone 6 has 4 antenna bands to ensure the signal reception, making the appearance of iPhone 6 far from beautiful.
To acquire a balance between appearance and functionality, designers and engineers have tried all the methods they can think of to solve the antenna band problem. This year, Meizu Pro 6 followed iPhone 6 and comes with plastic injected antennas. What’s different is that Meizu Pro 6 has tried arc antenna bands to ensure both the signal reception and beautiful look.
Coincidentally, the newest iPhone 7 comes with arc antenna bands which are similar to Meizu Pro 6, making the appearance more gorgeous and appealing. Launched also in this September, Vernee Mars becomes the third all-metal smartphone to boast arc antenna bands. This model shows Vernee’s devotion to innovation and great design. Even though Vernee is indeed a newly founded brand, this will not stop it from getting acceptance from the users.
Mars comes with 4GB RAM, 32GB ROM, octa-core 64bit CPU and 13MP Sony IMX258 camera which supports PDAF. What’s noteworthy is that Mars adopts a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and supports quick charge. The retail price of Vernee Mars is $249.99. During the presale, you can get it with only $229.99. And the shipment of pre-orders will be arranged in Oct.
